Ogden - Bad Timing - Good Soaking

I had a drive over to a very busy Ogden this afternoon, thinking that the 'iffy weather would keep the crowds at bay, however the car park was very busy.
My timing was way off weather wise with a long stand under a tree as a torrential shower came along.
Very relaxing under a tree though.

Birds:-

2 Grey Wagtail.
Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

I think I'll always struggle with Gull ID.
Different age groups of Lesser Black-backed Gulls were present but One bird in particular looks much lighter than the others which I think is a Herring Gull but I'm by no means sure!!

Great Crested Grebe.
A few Black Headed Gull.
2 Drake Tufted Duck.
2 or possibly 3 Cormorant.
Lots of Willow Warblers heard when  a dry bit of weather came along.
Quite a few common Woodland sp. calling.
Kestrel.
2 Great Spotted Woodpecker heard.
Canada Geese.
Mallard with just a few Ducklings.
A couple of Swifts and Swallow.

I had a scout about along Back Lane for a while to see if any rare East Coast Finches had turned up. If they had I did see 'em.

3rd bird in from the left - Herring Gull?

  1. Looks like your gull id is the right one there John. That tree with the bracket type fungus is amazing.
