Ogden and a wet afternoon's birding - Common Gull

I took a drive over to Ogden Water this afternoon, poor weather again with heavy showers but quite an interesting outing none-the-less.

I did the usual circuit plus I had a look for D. Br's and NK's  Crossbills around the Back Lane Area but failed to locate any!

A few good birds here today with a Oystercatcher (on the deck, instead of a fly over).
A Common Sandpiper was 'asleep on the shore' and I was well chuffed to pick it out.
Also an odd looking Black Headed Gull was in among a few Juv. and adult Black Headed Gull.

Birds:

Dipper.
Common Sandpiper.
2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers (poss Juvs).
c15 Black Headed Gull.
1 Common Gull
c10 Lesser Black-backed Gull.
Herring Gull.
Mallard.
Nuthatch.
2 Cormorant.
2 Jay.
2 Grey Wagtail.

A small flock of birds over the plantation that got the heart beating a bit when I though they were Crossbill. Looking at the photo they look like Starlings but I can't get any colour into the photo.

Great Crested Grebe.
Song Thrush.
Dunnock.
Chiffchaff.
Juv. Robins about.
17 or so Canada Geese.

A lovely Whitethroat was out singing on a small branch, in the planation, in the rain.

A very short look at Ned Hill Track had a few Lesser Black-backed Gulls over and a Kestrel.

The bushes at the end of the track were eerily quite, but it was quite a damp do.

A really enjoyable outing, even in the rain.
