Calderdale and UK Lifer - Wryneck

Following a sighting, by Ashley yesterday and a text from BS of a local Wryneck, the area was combed by DJS - but no joy.
Today DJS returned and this time came up trumps this afternoon.
The resulting grapevine text had me take a trip out to try and see the bird.
Quite windy here and the bird was not playing ball.
After and hour or so DJS and I were fortunate to be rewarded with first a short glimpse of the Wryneck then some truly splendid views of this exceptionally beautiful and rare bird for Calderdale.

A fantastic afternoons' birding , one I shall remember for a long time to come.
