RSPB St. Aidens Swillington

A visit to Junction 32 shopping emporium this morning was followed by a visit to St. Aiden's, Swillington this afternoon.

Quite mild but surprisingly windy throughout the walk.

A Great White Egret (or 2) were here, way out on the muddy stuff.
We did a long, long circuit of the area, only to get the best views of the bird from where we started from!

You need a bike here, and one birder was on his bike!

Lost of Geese and Ducks, mostly distant in the shimmer from the sun.

3 Whinchats and a Stonechat reminded me of home.

A Tufted Duck had a Scaup look about it, with some white on the top of the bill, no tuft that I can see, and an unusual (to me) spot on the end of the bill.
I am not familiar with Scaup, so, with all the Tufties here, It's probably a Tufted Duck
