Soil Hill Area - Black Redstart.
I had a morning visit to Taylor Lane Top trying for a better photograph of the Black Redstart.
An immediate sighting of the bird was short lived, but after a good while, together with DJS, NK, DW and DP the bird showed quite well, albeit at distant in awkward light at times.
A real pleasure to see such a rare bird in our area.
Black Redstart seem to favour this area with others seen in previous years.
Also hereabouts 2 Wheatear, found by NK - a rare bird for me this year - the birds left as soon as they arrived.
Also a calling Raven heard then seen by DJS.
An enjoyable outing and chat.
Salterhebble to Sowerby Bridge (and back).
After Soil Hill, we were caught out by the hot weather and had a real hot, old slog along the canal.
Loads of bikers to look out for and a few walkers.
Not much birding really.
Birds:
Buzzard over the water treatment works.
Long Tailed Tits.
Calling Nuthatch was about it.
A Peregrine was in the usual spot as we headed home after a visit to Sainsbury's early evening.
Done well with the photos John.
