Hirst Wood / Canal and River Aire

A visit to Hirst Wood, Shipley this morning on a dull calm day,
Abi is in our 'bubble' and with it being her school holidays she will be keeping me active for a while!

Today, though, I got some birding time as well as a pleasant walk.

We went through the wood and over the aqueduct then along the river Aire (with plenty of 'come on' grandad requests).
We shared a sandwich and a bun or 2 on a Saltaire bench before returning to the car along the canal past the bowling club.

Birds:-

3 Nuthatch, Bullfinch.
A few Pied Wagtail were at the Water Treatment Plant.
4 Jay, 4 Goosander, Mallard.
2 Siskin was a great find  for me - I struggle with Siskin but occasionally I get 30 or so at Ogden.
Cormorant, Dipper, 3 Mistle Thrush.
Black Headed Gull, Kestrel.

A Buzzard or Corvid overhead - I can't tell which.

 and a few other sp.

  2. Got Redpoll nr Bradshaw School on Alders and Ogden a while back - it's feast of famine with them I guess.
As you say, plenty of time, lets hope we get some extra autumn visitors.
