Ogden Water Late Morning / Raggalds Late Afternoon

Ogden Water:

Sue dropped me at Ogden on her way to the shop.
A thoroughly wet outing with light drizzle soon turning to heavy stuff with low misty cloud.
I did a circuit of the water and walked home via Cowhill Gate, Ingham  and Bradshaw Lanes.
More folk here than I would have though given the weather.

Birds:-

c50 Black Headed Gull.
c5 Common Gull but viewing awkward at distance.
4 Lesser Black-backed Gull.

1 Herring Gull - not sure of the leg colour!
(I watched the Herring Gull on the water with the camera poised and the rain teeming down waiting for it to show a leg.
I just managed 1 photo of it slightly airborne!).

A really smart small Common Gull took my attention but I could not turn it into a mega Ring-billed!

F. Bullfinch.
Coal Tits flitting about.
2 Goldcrest.
Not a lot else.

Raggalds Flood:

I took a ride up to look at the Raggalds Flood this afternoon.
Still a good bit of water but not a bird in sight.
A walk along to the football pitch opposite the Raggalds found it very cold (6 degrees) and windy.
c70 Gulls here.
I took some photos to look through in the warmth at home, later.
No white winged jobs.
1 Lesser Black-backed Gull with the rest a majority of Common Gulls - probably 80% Common Gulls.
4 Mistle Thrush overhead.

  1. Thought I might see you at Ogden this afternoon. We usually meet up there when it's pouring down !. You were probably drying off at home by the time I got there. Two female Goosander on the water and that was the best I could do !
