A run out to Denholme for an hours birding late afternoon, today.
Very, very windy but mostly dry after a shower or two.
Not much happening in this wind alas.
Straight out of the car and a flock of c40 Fieldfare passed > W.
I just managed a few poor photos before they vanished.
I suppose the highlight of the outing was a 'field full of gulls'.
Mostly Common and Black Headed Gulls with only a few Larger Gulls.
I have posted a few interesting photos of some of them.
Also amongst them was Lapwing and Starling, the Lapwing being obscured by the field contours.
I took loads of photos to look through later on.
At one point the whole lot flushed and a Kestrel appeared and landed nearby.
There looked to be some Fieldfare in amongst them.
Smaller birds were nearly non-existent with just 3 Meadow Pipit.
On my way back to the car, a very large, and distant, Black-backed Gull flew below Soil Hill.
Looking at the photo I think it is a Great Black-backed Gull.
Unsure about the Gull above.
There is another photo lower down also.
I don't think this is the same Gull as the one above it.
Unsure about the Gull above
2 Photos below of a
