Soil Hill and Jay House Lane

A real struggle to find birds today, with a strong, cold, South Westerly keeping things mega quiet.

Soil Hill:

A couple of hours stroll up to and around Soil Hill coming home via the quarry path that leads to Percy Rd corner where you need your wellies to get through the stile.

A Little Owl was calling near the Bonnet Hill and s Kestrel was hunting here also.

Mistle Thrush along Taylor Lane.

On Soil Hill itself , a couple of Meadow Pipit heard (not seen), Moorhen and 6 Mallard on the NK pond.

Blackbird, Wren.

A good scan from the top of  the quarry looking at the tracks and soil piles failed to spot a Bunting!

There is a new, man made pond, beyond the quarry with a small 'island' , which in time, might bring something down.

It's a bit bare at the moment though.

35 Lapwing were in fields off Percy Rd with a few Starling.

Jay House Lane:

A short stroll here, late afternoon, found it windy and quite cold with not much moving at all.

1 House Sparrow.

5 Goldfinch.

A Redwing - a real bonus today!

c14 Mallard very mobile, flying back and forth.

Distant Gulls and a few Corvids was about it.

And the pubs are shut and all - flipping ummer.
