Thornton Old Railway Track and Ogden

Quite windy but mild out of the wind today.

Thornton:

We had our exercise walk, this afternoon, along the old railway cycle track from Thornton School towards Queensbury.

We did not venture very far along it to be honest.

Not much happening bird wise but a Treecreeper was a good find.

Ogden:

Sue dropped me at Coal Lane near Ogden on our way home so I could continue my exercise.

The car park here was very, very busy.

A Sparrowhawk whizzed over the end of the prom and down between the house towards Boggart Brigg, causing others birds to panic a bit.

There were plenty of Gulls out on the water and loads of mayhem when the bread lobbers started lobbing.

Both a Green Woodpecker and a Great Spotted Woodpecker were heard but neither seen.

Usual small birds seen along the circuit.

1 Fieldfare seen opposite the Moorlands Inn and plenty of Common and Black Headed Gulls in the fields thereabouts.

'Interesting' light coloured Gull (centre).
Seen from Cow Hill Gate Lane.
But the photo at this distance isn't great.
Probably a Black Headed Gull on second thoughts!

  1. Always worth checking the gulls John. Think it's a B h Gull just about showing some black on the closed wing.
