A much better day today, than of late, with frost and sunshine.
3 degrees early on, warmed up slightly later.
Another busy morning but we managed a short walk along the Hewenden Viaduct (Cullingworth), late morning - early afternoon. Lots of folk out walking here today.
On our way here at Manywells Brow, a large contingent of Gulls could be seen, in the fields as we looked North.
It's a long 'view" from the viaduct down to Hewenden reservoir but there were some good birds on offer.
There was a lot of glare looking to the reservoir from the viaduct. Further along the glare was less but trees obscured some of the reservoir.
Gulls in great number here mostly on the walls and grass banks with a few on the water , itself.
I wonder where this large Gull population get all the food that they need each day? Now that the landfill site is defunct.
Presumably they will pick a few insect types from the top of the water with their main diet being worms from the surrounding fields.
Some good fields hereabouts, just as well.
Birds:
I've taken loads of distant Gull photos so I can baffle myself after tea looking at them.
Moorhen, Mallard, Tufted Duck, Cormorant, Mistle Thrush.
Goldeneye. Canada Geese, Goosander.
Soil Hill:
Sue dropped me at Soil Hill on my way home.
Cold but pleasant enough here for a short stroll around.
Should have worn me wellies though!
Tough going today with just a Heron of note seen.
With apologies for some of the poorer 'Duck' photos taken on full zoom.
