Plenty of local outings this year with the various restrictions, today another trip up to and around Soil Hill late afternoon.
A windy, showery day today but I nearly made it home without getting wet, the rain arriving as I left Taylor Lane.
Some decent birds seen today.
My first Little Owl was seen as I headed across the field path to Ned Hill.
In the horse fields along here, Common Gulls, Black Headed Gulls and Jackdaws with a few Herring Gulls, Rooks and Starlings in the lower fields.
Not much seen up Ned Hill Road.
A circuit of Soil Hill was a breezy job with a solitary bird probably a Meadow Pipit flushed from the top without a call.
Tail looks a bit long??
I got a poor photo.
Looking north, way down in the lower Shay fields there were a few Mallard, C100 Gulls, Starlings and a c70 Lapwing contingent resting.
I had a slight change of route home, opting for the path that skirts the quarry top and goes through some exceedingly boggy fields before exiting on Percy Road bend.
A bit awkward along here now with a replacement kissing gate post not allowing the kissing gate to open very far - a real squeeze, making it easy to rip your coat on the barbed wire.
A 'Gull' with an unusual call, passed by at a great distance.
The photo is pants!
Taylor Lane, and I got my 2nd Little Owl of the outing, a chat with Percy Rd 'Ken' and a flock of 68 airborne Lapwing - presumably the earlier flock on the move.
A Kestrel was seen on the wires from Bradshaw Lane.
Earlier this morning c30 Lapwing passed overhead by The Raggalds.
Elsewhere in Calderdale earlier today it was good to see Peregrine Falcon in two places 7 or so miles apart.
