This afternoons' exercise walk took in Taylor Lane, Soil Hill, Ned Hill Lane and the farm tack past East Croft Farm to home.
A dull, damp outing and it was very windy along Soil Hills' west facing slopes.
Most of the large quantity of snow has gone, no wonder there is flood warnings elsewhere.
The end of Ned Hill Track has seen yet more fly tipping - it looks like some of it fed a few Crows at least.
Birds:-
Taylor Lane: Little Owl.
Soil Hill:
A good trudge around but nothing much about, most birds very distant.
c220 Gulls down on the lower Shay Fields with 6 Lapwing and a small Starling flock.
Common Gull, Black Headed Gull and Herring Gull all moving throughout the walk.
A possible Raven (more probably a Crow with food) being mobbed by Gulls.
Ned Hill Lane Area:
Pr. Mallard overhead.
Possible Stock Doves overhead, by the looks of the dark underwing?
Pheasant.
**
A small blue / grey Raptor (smaller than a Kestrel) with sharp wings flew low next to a wall past Stoney Hall Farm, towards Soil Hill.
Looked very, very good for a Merlin.
I took a photo of it , it was about 100yds away but I missed it.
Merlin is such a rare bird for me, that I need a photo or a "perching" bird to be confident of the ID so I'll let this one pass.
But an exciting moment, all helps to improve the outing.

Farm Track to home:
13 Goldfinch, c35 Jackdaw.
My 1st Heron of 2021.
Little Owl.
