Cromwell Bottom - Brighouse

Another windy and dark morning and a poor weather forecast for the afternoon, had me do my exercise walk along the canal and river at Cromwell Bottom this morning.

It was quiet early on but it soon got busy with many dog walkers.

I parked at the fishing ponds and had a walk along the canal.

A quick gander at the ski lake through the fence was followed by a walk across the boardwalk to the river.

A walk along the river to the bridge by the feeding area and then a long leisurely saunter around the bushes hereabouts, before retracing my steps.

Birds:-

Lots of birds moving about today with some birdsong.

2 Singing Song Thrush brought a glimpse of spring.

2 Goldcrest.

2 Goosander.

3 Grey Wagtail.

The ski lake was very quiet and held just a few Common and Black Headed Gulls.

A Green Woodpecker called several times from south of me.

I clocked at least 12 Bullfinch.

Reed Bunting.

Loads of Long Tailed Tit.

Top of the shop was a small flock of Siskin high in some Alders.

They were horribly back lit and obscured by branches making the photos really poor alas.

Plus, plenty of the usual more common species.

A Fieldfare was in the tree opposite our house at lunch time.

Some (mostly poor) photos:-
