Golden Plover and Bradshaw Soil Hill Circular Birding Walk

A sunny day today but pretty cold with it.

We had to have a trip out to get some light bulbs this morning and saw a rare sighting of a Harrier - a Sea Harrier aircraft alas.

My Monday Moan:-

It seems to me that every object that need a light bulb, in our house, seems to need a different version and shape of LED light and it also seems to me, that these LED's don't last as long as we were 'LED' to believe when they were introduced - and they ain't cheap either.

We had an old bayonet bulb in our cellar that seemed to go on for ever.

It was that rusty when it eventually packed in, it just snapped off when we tried to replace it.

What happened to the bayonet bulb and a just few options?

Anyway..

I had my usual walk from home, up to Taylor Lane, around Soil Hill down Ned Hill and along past East View Farm to home.

A great day for a walk but another exceedingly frustrating day birding, with very little happening.

It was good to chat with Jack and his dog in his allotment on Ned Hill. The dog hardly spoke, perhaps it was a little husky.

A cold hour or so in the garden late afternoon did lift the spirits a bit with a Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and a large flock of very distant birds that I grapevined as Pink Footed Geese - After looking at the photo they are C90? Golden Plover!!

The birds, were probably over 5 miles away > E, perhaps they know that snow will be arriving from the west tomorrow?

Birds:-

Taylor Lane:

Heron , Little Owl.

Soil Hill:

A real struggle - Carrion Crow, Rook, Magpie.

1 Meadow Pipit, Common Gull, Herring Gull, Black Headed Gull.

(North side still frozen).

Ned Hill Lane:

Pr. Mistle Thrush - one looked to have a damaged wing.

Homeward Bound:

2 Partridge flushed from very close, under a wall.

They appeared 'small' but did not call and the wing noise was minimal.

2 Fieldfare and 2 Redwing were with a few Starlings

 in the fields near home.

Garden Watch:

Golden Plover.

Sparrowhawk.

Buzzard.

A very large Gull, that could be a Great Black-backed Gull???

All very distant South of me.
