I had a visit to Ogden and called at Mixenden on my way home.
The weather was changeable with some shelter at Ogden but wet with squally showers on the east banking of Mixenden Reservoir.
The birding gods were against me today, after a terrific find of an Iceland Gull on Mixenden by DJS this afternoon, I called there on my way home from Ogden.
I parked on the road and whistled to BS on the high banking receiving a thumbs up, indicating the Iceland Gull was present.
By the time I had clamber up to the reservoir top, the bird had flown.
Boo-Hoo (twice). ðŸ˜
Some good natured banter followed , which brought a few smiles.
I'm getting more dips than sheep on an Australian Sheep farm at the moment - but my time will come (hopefully).
Good to get some interesting sightings, just need a few at Ogden.
Ogden was.. well Ogden, with the Mallards a Moorhen and 2 Canada Geese.
A Curlew called from the moor.
A few Herring Gulls and Lesser Black-backed gulls with the smaller Gulls, mostly Black Headed,
A big brute of a Herring Gull was on the float, keeping it's legs covered.
One Gull was low down in the water, reminding me of Kittiwake but it was a Common Gull.
Top of the shop were 3 Treecreeper that were quite close to the path.
A Mistle Thrush was on the embankment and a Great Spotted Woodpecker, called, then dropped down into the reservoir house garden.
With her leg giving grief, Sue has been doing 1,000 piece jigsaws to keep herself sane. The one pictured was a real challenge.
