Ogden Water

I enjoyed a couple of laps of Ogden Water (very thirst quenching) , this bright breezy and dry afternoon.

Good to get my 1st Chiffchaff of 2021, last year I had to wait until 12th April to see one.

The bird was calling from the trees, near the car park,  as I was just about to leave - shame about the poor photo.

Birds:-

Chiffchaff.

12 Herring Gulls at one point.

3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

Just a few Black Headed Gull and Common Gulls.

A few Goldcrest, very high up in conifers.

A Nuthatch called from the Reservoir House trees.

Later a Great Spotted Woodpecker called from the north end and later still a Green Woodpecker called from the south end.

Both Wrens and Robins singing and flitting about.

A short garden sky watch was interrupted by a hail shower (brrr) but before the interruption I did see a Sparrowhawk being mobbed by a solitary Crow, very high in the blue sky.

Looking SE from my garden I can just about see the tops of the conifers above Oats Royd.

Many Crows / Jackdaws seem to like flying about in the wind here.

Today though, what looked like a Crow on it's own, flew leisurely, mega high and then plummeted down a good bit before gliding about - it seemed to be having 'fun' rather than 'hunting'?
