Bradshaw Fields / Run about later

Bradshaw Fields:

I had a look for the Ring Ouzel along the Bradshaw Fields this morning with DSB and later AC.

We were quite lucky early on locating 2 birds fairly soon but they disappeared into the rough stuff behind East Croft Farm.

With some patience we relocated them (4 birds) and then they disappeared again just as AC arrived.

They did re-appear and we all got some decent views of all 4 Male Ring Ouzels.

Also here were:-

Mistle Thrush, 2 Linnet, 2 Meadow Pipit, Little Owl.

Pheasant, Red Legged Partridge - making a loud calling drone.

Pheasant, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Heron.

A Peregrine Falcon was seen during the morning also.

This afternoon Sue decided to have a drive to a cake shop at Haworth, I went along for the testing session.

We sat in the sun in Haworth Park scoffing, very pleasant.

A short stop off at Leeshaw (where I could probably willed away 4 hours) was next.

Leeshaw:

Leeshaw was busy with the usual crew, lots of loud birdsong and honking Geese.

Lapwing, Curlew, Canada Goose, Greylag Goose.

Mallard, Heron.

Plus c10 Oystercatcher zooming about - there could well have been more below the banking out of sight.

4 Redshank, c10 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 Black Headed Gull.

Drake Goosander.

A Dipper flushed from near the wall by the small stream lower down,

Best Lane in Oxenhope was closed to traffic so we retraced our steps and took the Fly Flatts - |Wainstalls route home.

Fly Flatts - Home:

We did not stop to eyeball Fly Flatts, you really need a scope (and not to have spent 4 hours birding already!).

We did, however, stop near the kennels above Hunter Hill on the Calderdale Way(I'm not sure if this is the Norstar Field area - but no Goldies were here).

A Wheatear was on a nearby wall with 2 Oystercatchers and a few Lapwing in the fields.

A lone Swallow was ducking and diving, high in the sky, trying to find some food.

Quite a day out.
