Soil Hill and Bradshaw

A late morning, early afternoon visit to Soil Hill found it very quiet.

Strange sort of weather today, I set of in winter gear in the cool wind, and ended up with the coat in the sack and plenty of perspiration.

An hour or so garden sky watch this afternoon in the sun was pleasant, but as soon as the sun disappeared it was quite cold.

Some signs that Swallows and Martins are moving with dribs and drabs of both filtering through, high > N.

Birds:-

Soil Hill:

Quite a good nosey about, but not a lot seen.

3 Skylark, 3 Curlew, 4 Lapwing.

4 Meadow Pipit, 2 Linnet.

2 Willow Warbler.

Pr. Blackbird.

Moorhen, Pheasant.

Elsewhere:

3 Stock Dove, 1 Willow Warbler, 1 Little Owl.

Garden Sky Watch:

8 Swallow > N.

2 House Martin > N.

3 Lesser Black-backed Gull and 2 Other Large Gulls too distant for me to ID.

1 Buzzard high over Oats Royd soon disappeared into the blue.

Greenfinch, Heron, 2 Canada Geese.

Hoping that the Soil Hill lower NK pond will come up trumps soon.

  1. We were on Back Lane- thought we saw you up there John. It was dead where we were today but it was a nice day to be out and about. Those Swallows are certainly hanging back.
