A busy day today with two stints down Beechwood Park with Abi, on her bike and playing football.
Sue dropped me at Taylor Lane Top on her way to Abi' house late afternoon.
A very quiet tour of Soil Hill (including the North Side tree line) did not produce many birds.
Leaving for home, via Ned Hill Track, a Robin sat almost motionless on a wall here.
A further look at it saw that its tail was flicking - a Black Redstart- WOW.
Later, AC arrived on the scene (with his boss) and we enjoyed some very good, close, views of the bird.
Evening seems to be the best birding time for me of late.
Birds:-
Soil Hill:
3 Skylark, 3 Meadow Pipit, 2 Willow Warbler, 2 Wren, 2 Curlew.
8 Mallard, Moorhen, 4 Lapwing, Robin, Pheasant.
Stock Dove.
Ned Hill Track:
1 Black Redstart.
4 Meadow Pipit.
A few Linnet.
Percy Rd:
4 Large Gulls over.
The first of which seemed very large and called loudly.
I though afterwards that I should have videoed it, to record the call.
Taylor Lane:
Little Owl.
Bradshaw:
Swallow on a line.
Garden:
Buzzard, 4 Swallow one looked to be staying local.
4 Canada Geese.
Oystercatcher.
Beechwood Park:
Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Mistle Thrush.
A mega distant bird on a chimney in Homefield - probably a Kestrel?
Heck John ----whatever next.... Brilliant a cracking find. Dave
