White Holme Reservoir

A drive out to the distant shores of White Holme Reservoir this  afternoon. A cool breezy outing but a few Waders present made it quite enjoyable (for one of us at least).

We checked out the SW shoreline mainly but there is masses of shoreline now which bodes well for later on in the year?

Birds:-

A Buzzard was seen from the car as we approached the parking area.

A second Buzzard?? (or the 1st again) with white at the top of it's tail, was taking advantage of the breeze to 'hover' Kestrel-like looked a bit 'odd'?

A Kestrel was seen on our departure.

The reservoir area:

c5 Common Sandpiper very active flitting around.

3 Little Ringed Plover.

A Ringed Plover (one poor photo shows a bird in flight with a white wing band).

Snipe high, in flight and a Curlew fly past.

Meadow Pipit, Skylark.

A Lark or Pipit with a longish tail feeding on the edge of the water looked 'odd' - probably as Meadow Pipit.

A Partridge sp. that was heard, to the left of the path, as we neared the exit gate on our way back to the car, remined unseen.

3 Wheatear (2 Juvs) was a pleasing sight.

A Peregrine was seen elsewhere.
