Ringstone Reservoir - Common Scoter

I had a run out to Ringstone this afternoon, encouraged by the grapevine  report by JM earlier, of 5 Common Scoter there.

The drive there was accompanied by heavy rain, but on my arrival at Ringstone it dried up nicely, the clouds broke up a bit and some sunny intervals appeared.

It was good to chat with DW who, unfortunately, was just leaving as I arrived and also PD and LD who I met a bit later on.

The Common Scoter were , as usual, about as far away from the shore as possible.

The birds were diving regularly and a couple of times I though they had left en-masse then all 5 popped up again.

After a long pause the Scoter has notched up my Calderdale list to 101. I hope some migrants will notch it up again soon!

Birds:-

5 Common Scoter.

5 Tufted Duck.

2 Great Crested Grebe.

2 Black Headed Gull.

2 Lesser Black-backed Gull.

Kestrel.

Common Sandpiper.

Mallard.

Heron.

Swift.

3 Oystercatcher.

    A piece of cake Dave!
Well, maybe not, given my twitching record.
