Sizzling Hunstanton

It was a hot Sunday morning as we set off to

a very busy Searles caravan park at Hunstanton.

We try to avoid 'busy' but GB seems to be the new Costa Del Sol.

We  avoided Hunstanton town itself, so far, walking along the prom. near our park.

Avoiding town seems pretty easy to achieve, with the weather so hot that reading, drinking and eating ice cream seems to be the logical thing to do.

Days 1 and 2:

A longish walk along the prom. one afternoon did bring some decent birds my way, but the very low setting sun is brutal, combined with the glare. it makes all the birds along the distant 'shoreline' (the sea is miles off in the afternoon /evening) just black dots.

Even Oystercatcher are difficult to Identify and there are probably thousands of these.

In addition to the Oyks, we did manage to see a few Sandwich Tern, Turnstone and Ringed Plover for definite.

Thousands of Gulls here, mainly Black Headed Gulls.

Herring Gulls, were raucous  as usual.

One large juv. Herring Gull was on a house roof (not sure how it got there) with no nest nearby that I could see, and I doubted it could fly yet.

Some flying small black 'things' seemed to bring out House Martin with at least 20.

Day 3:

Struggling again this morning, scorching hot.

I went down to look at the sea early doors and got the sun behind me but the coast line was dry probably as far as Holland.

Same birds as yesterday but the couple of Sandwich Tern were a bit nearer and louder.

A late afternoon stroll to Hunstanton Town was, again, a hot affair.

This time the tide was in but the sun was glistening mightily creating some good black and white images.

With the tide in the Gulls had taken up roost on the Amusement Park Roof,

We all look forward to some sunshine on our holidays, Sue can sit in it all day, regardless of the temperature.

I however burn in fog, and sitting about is ok for a short time, but not for 3 days solid.

I'll have to remember that when I'm on Soil Hill in January, counting Snow Buntings in a blizzard!

A few Buzzards were seen on the drive home.
