White Home and Blackstone Edge Reservoirs

A long drive out to White Home Reservoir this afternoon. Another really hot day with the forecast showers not materialising so all the wet gear was in the sack.

I was hoping for a 'rare' Wader but...

Very picturesque here with the white sand and white sand stones giving a "beach" effect.

Not many birds though.

A few Meadow Pipit flitting about as I approached the reservoir. A Wheatear flushed and left pronto.

A Curlew was heard from the moor and a few Canada Geese were on a distant shoreline.

That, being my lot after over 2 hours of searching reminded of an old proverb that my granny used to quote me...

"The grass is always Greenshank".

I had a look at Blackstone Edge Reservoir before enduring the Sowerby Bridge rush hour car park.

I faired just a little better here.

c40 Canada Geese.

4 Pied Wagtail.

1 Mallard with 2 Ducklings.

5 Common Sandpiper.

Meadow Pipits.

A Green Woodpecker flew over the garden late this evening.

A Large Gull over late on -  a Lesser Black-backed Gull.

Carrion Crow??
