Foreside Lane to Back Lane and Soil Hill viewed from Thornton Rd

I was on the look out for Chats today - should have gone to the chippy!

Very breezy with the odd drop of rain, mild in the intermittent sunshine.

A walk up Foreside Lane and a left across the big, boggy field.

Then up again to pass the old abattoir building and on to Back Lane.

I also took the opportunity to scan Soil Hill as I walked along Thornton Rd for a while.

Birds:-

Amazingly 1st bird seen was a Little Owl!

Bird of the outing though was a Stonechat albeit very distant, seen early on - then presumably the same bird a bit later on in the outing.

c80 mostly large Gulls were resting in the fields with 20 or so strewn about the nearby fields - mainly Lesser Black-backed Gulls with a few Herring Gulls.

Also seen were Black Headed Gulls and Common Gulls.

One Meadow Pipit!

3 Swift, 16 Canada Geese.

A Curlew called constantly, flying around periodically.

(Probably getting a bit late for Curlew sightings now).

c10 Swallow with one entering the stable block.

8 Goldfinch on a massive field of Thistle - blowing 'white hairs' all over the shop.

House Sparrows.

2 Blackbird.

c10 Linnet.

One of my Gull photos show what could be a Snipe sp. in the grass - then again in could be pile of...

1st sighting

Later  on.
