Another cold , dull August day with bits of nuisance drizzle for me this afternoon.
An enjoyable slow birding saunter nonetheless.
A walk along the bridleway south of Foreside Lane to the Abattoir ruin and back.
After returning from the Abattoir ruin, I had a look at Soil Hill's north side from Thornton Road.
The birding started off really slow but some excellent birds came along to brighten the gloom.
Birds:
c30 Meadow Pipit, 2 Linnet, c20 Swallow.
2 Reed Bunting, Wheatear.
Red Kite mobbed by 2 crows. Very distant in the gloom.
2 Kestrel, c20 Lesser Black-backed Gull, Wren.
A long awaited Whinchat.
C25 Herring Gull.
Black Headed Gull, Common Gull.
Great to catch up with Whinchat John. They are stunning birds and pleased they come through for us in autumn - and another butterfly Green-veined White by the look of it.
