Last day before Abi goes back to school tomorrow.
Very murky this morning as I scanned the distant sky above Oats Royd from the garden.
Later, a bit (lot) of bad timing had me struggle up Ned Hill Lane in the heat.
There should be no "p's" in perspiration, it certainly stopped me having one!
Birds:-
Swallows (swarms of them) over Oats Royd, c50 in one scan followed by loads more throughout the watch.
A Sparrowhawk over early on, a second sighting after lunch with the Sparrowhawk trying and failing to nab a Swallow.
A bit later a real tussle between 2 Sparrowhawk and Crows and Magpies over Oats Royd probably lasted 15 minutes.
A Raven cronked from that area also, but remained unidentifiable with all the action.
c30 Mistle Thrush in 3 groups could have some doubled counted.
The walk was a hot disappointing affair.
A Little Owl was on a field wall, a Chiffchaff was singing, east of Matthews Farm...
Quite a Catchy ditty that "East of Matthews Farm" number.
21 Mistle Thrush airborne also.
A short walk along Ned Hill Track and back and a short walk up Soil Hill Main track and back were a waste of energy.
Soil Hill itself was left to slumber.
A Linnet and a Meadow Pipit were along Taylor Lane.
A Green Woodpecker called from Bradshaw Lane.
I might also have a Peregrine .. but I'll let that go,
