Yet another cool, dull, drizzly sort of day today.
I eventually managed a couple of hours birding near Denholme Velvets.
It was very, very quiet with very little moving, except Swallows, low over the fields.
I was, however, blessed by a couple of good sightings the first a cracking Whinchat on the wall of the 'big boggy field'.
Nearing the car , on the way back, passing the now demolished and scrubby tree strewn remains of Denholme Velvets building site, a Green Flash moved.
I took some time and finally found the 'flasher' a Juv. Green Woodpecker among the ruined brick walls.
Birds:-
12 Swallow.
Black Headed Gull.
2 Pied Wagtail.
11 Lesser Black-Backed Gull in the field with a few other over.
6 Meadow Pipit.
Whinchat.
(There may have been 2 Whinchat - looking at the photos, a bird I thought was a Meadow Pipit at the time, on a line, is a Whinchat).
4 Pheasant.
Wren.
Woodpigeon.
2 Goldfinch.
2 Robin - one performing a short song.
Green Woodpecker.
