Leeshaw Reservoir and Ogden to Bradshaw Birding Walk

I enjoyed Fish and Chips for lunch today, from a Haworth Chippy - very nice too - a rare treat.

Leaving Haworth, 3 Red Grouse were seen on a wall.

Afterwards I had a butchers hook at Leeshaw Reservoir, Oxenhope where the weather was unkind, with a strong cold westerly blowing drizzle along.

I jumped out of the car, took some photos and jumped back in again and headed off.

Later on Sue dropped me at Ogden and after a circuit of the water I enjoyed a walk home.

The climb up Ned Hill Road banishing any cold blood from my body.

A look see along Ned Hill Track was abandoned when my arrival there coincided with a heavy shower, which was very disappointing.

Birds:-

Leeshaw:

Gulls and (Mostly) Greylag Geese were on the distant SW shoreline.

A Large 1st calendar year(?) (very Dark plumaged) large Gull took an unusual liking to a solitary Canada Goose on the water

I took plenty of phots of the Gulls but I cannot see anything special in them.

A Raptor 'flushed' from the top of a pole and was away before I could get a decent photo.

Ogden:

Mostly Gulls here, also with not a lot stirring around the circuit.

One Lesser Black-backed Gull stood out from the rest with a 'refined' bill and a lot of dark eye markings.

The circuit had the usual high pitched contact calls coming from the trees, but seeing owt was another matter.

The usual Blackbirds, Robins and Tit species were about.

At least 3 Goldcrest were present and I manged to get the bins on them several times but a half decent photo eluded me in the 15 minutes I spent trying to get one.

In the end I gave it up as a bad job.

c6 Long Tailed Tit were feeding along passerine alley.

A family of 8 Pheasants were in the fields of the White Bungalow at the end of Percy Rd.

A solitary Red Legged Partridge flushed from the wall along Soil Hill main path, landing in the field and running along.

13 Common Gulls were in the fields near Taylor Lane.

Many reports of Winter Thrushes today but none for me yet,

Ogden:

A couple of photos below of the
'odd' Lesser Black-backed Gull.
(Well odd to me anyway).
