Bradshaw - Holdsworth Circular

An odd sort of day today, one minute blue sky, the next dark and damp with bits of nuisance drizzle.

The usual local outing this afternoon through Bradshaw Park and down the fields, through the copse  to Holdsworth and back.

Birds:-

Started off pretty good when a calling Great Spotted Woodpecker, landed in a tree top close by.

A second Great Spotted Woodpecker was heard later, in the Holdsworth copse, but not seen.

2 Redwing were in the back of the hedge line below the Bowling Green and were very skittish and impossible to photograph!

An unusually coloured (?)  Pied Wagtail with much while in the wing, was near the midden by St, John's Cross farm.

I made a complete mess of getting a photo and the bird then quickly left.

c10 Large Thrush sp .high, west, that I saw too late, I could not to ID with any confidence, was disappointing.

Wren, 5 Bullfinch, Mistle Thrush, 2 Jay, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Blackbird in the copse.

There are still too many leaves on the closely knit trees in the copse! Boo-hoo.

Not a lot seen but it's a pleasant walk and as usual good to be out in the fresh air.

A late garden sky watch brought with it a Buzzard hanging in the air over a very distant  Oats Royd and 2 Mistle Thrush landing on a nearby pylon belonging to one of the local crows - a crow was unhappy with them.

A large flock of Starlings on the Pavement Lane fields as we passed this a.m.

Remember These Adverts?
