Hollingworth Lake Nr.Littleborough

We had a drive over to Littleborough this morning to have a walk at Hollingworth Lake.

It was bright when we left Bradshaw but very dull at the lake, but it remained dry.

Our usual visitors centre café visit was unavailable , the café being closed for a face lift.

It looks like a major job so it might take some time, the car park there, however, was open as usual.

We just did one circuit of the water.

A great chainsaw carving can be seen, half way around the lake.

Birds:-

Herring Gull, Black Headed Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Mallard.

Great Crested Grebe, Canada Goose, Moorhen, Common Gull.

Teal, Cormorant, Mistle Thrush, 2 Grey Wagtail, 2 Pied Wagtail.

There was a Lesser Black-backed Gull with a great deal of white in the wingtips at restwhile looked 'unusual'

c80 flock of Lapwing.

.... and a few others.

A Kestrel was seen near Baitings reservoir on our way home.

Lesser Black-backed Gull.
Lots of white in wingtips at rest (Above)
