Elland to Brighouse(a.m.) and Local Outing(p,m.)

Sue dropped me at Elland on her way to see a friend this morning.

A really mild morning with sunshine - I had to move a layer into my rucksack, I was that warm!

Not much time to dawdle with a pre-arranged pick-up time in Brighouse of just over an hour or so.

(I did not visit Cromwell NR today).

After lunch I had a walk across the local fields and through Matthew's farm - It was good to chat to Matthew and his nephew there.

Different weather here this afternoon, decidedly chilly and the mist and light drizzle arrived as I arrived at Soil Hill.

I bypassed Ned Hill Track and opted for a walk up Soil Hill main track, a look at the lower pond and back via Taylor Lane.

Birds:

Elland / Brighouse:

5 Mute Swan, Cormorant,

Just a few Gulls and a Heron seen on the ski lake, through the railings and foliage.

9 Canada Geese, Nuthatch, Grey Wagtail.

Buzzard, 2 Moorhen , 2 Pied Wagtail.

Local Fields etc:

Kestrel , Little Owl.

4 Distant Fieldfare, Pheasant.

Usual Gulls.

2 Meadow Pipit with just a few Mallard on the distant, misty, NK pond was all I could find on my short jaunt on Soil Hill.

One Duck on the pond looks smaller than the others but I cannot squeeze a Teal out of the very poor photo!

2 Kestrel, Pied Wagtail.

Elsewhere today a Peregrine Falcon was seen.

Pre "Gaviscon" Robin

Not much white in the primary feathers?

Duck (far right) looks smaller?
