Local Fields p.m. First Snow of Autumn

Lots of snow in Bradshaw this morning with an accompanying harsh strong north wind, chilling your bones.

After some snow shovelling with Chris next door (and a shovel) we went to pick up Emma from White Windows.

No snow at Strawberry Bridge - just some slush!

After lunch I enjoyed a half hour walk through the local snow fields hoping for a pretty photo of a Little Owl in the snow - but it remained unseen.

Not many birds about, which was not a surprise.

Birds:-

Robin, Dunnock, Starlings, Blackbird.

Mistle Thrush, Wren.

A Sparrowhawk was airborne struggling against the wind.

A bird flushed, flew awkwardly a short distance  before landing out of sight.

Its tail was 'a mess' and it looked suspiciously like a Moorhen, but I've not seen on up here before.

Also. a really odd call, from a bird that I failed to see, sounded very much like a Sandwich Tern - but no doubt it wasn't!

What it was  - I've no idea.

Little Owl wall (but no Little Owl)
