Another Bradshaw Soil Hill Circular (Thursday).

Crisp and cold with winter, Walter Wall, sunshine with some frozen ground on the tops.

The usual local saunter up to Soil Hill, back via Ned Hill and the farm track.

Some decent birds seen this morning with a good selection of winter Thrushes along Taylor Lane.

A lengthy scan from Ned Hill Track for the Red Kite, Reported  (BS,DJS) seen around the  Fly Flats area, failed to pluck it out of the sky.

Mind you it was a long shot, distance wise!

Birds:-

2 Red Legged Partridge.

C20 Fieldfare, c10 Redwing, 5 Mistle Thrush.

Black Headed Gulls, C20 Common Gulls, 5 Herring Gulls.

Gulls were moving mostly west over Soil Hill throughout my time there.

Large number of Gulls in fields  beyond Thornton Road.

Kestrel.

c10 Goldfinch, 9 Meadow Pipit.

5 Sock Dove, Pheasant.

2 Little Owl - one on the deck caught something to eat.

Garden Watch:

An hour or so garden watch this afternoon watch was a chilly affair.

2 Raven.

44 Fieldfare > W.

Great Spotted Woodpecker.

A "Stock Dove or Woodpigeon" look alike had fast wingbeats a more pronounced "M" in its flight shape . and seemed short bodied.

Grey / Blue with some white underneath -. has me beat for ID.

(No pic alas).

No a bad day all told.
