Abi with us this week during the school holidays and we all enjoyed a trip out to Bingley St. Ives.
I though Abi would have opted for the zip wire in the park but instead she wanted to walk around the perimeter path.
A couple of hours exercise on a bright, cool breezy day was followed by a visit to Stephen Smiths garden centre with lunch in the excellent Hattie's Café.
Late afternoon I had a walk along the fields near home (in a near gale alas).
Birds:-
St .Ives:-
Getting out of the car a very distant 'Gull' morphed into a Raptor, a Red Kite by the looks of it.
The bird flew > SW(ish) and I put it out on the grapevine in case it made it into Calderdale airspace!
I just managed one poor, distant photo before it disappeared behind trees.
The Coppice Pond had the usual species.
Mallard, 7 Tufted Duck, 10 Mute Swan.
Moorhen, Coot.
A few Black Headed Gull.
A Large Gull that I could not decide between a Yellow Legged Gull and a Lesser Black-backed Gull is a Lesser Black-backed Gull (Thanks to AC / BS).
As we went through the woods we spotted 4 Great Spotted Woodpecker (2 chasing each other about), and 2 Jay.
(We did not check out the feeding area today).
Bradshaw Fields:-
Stock Dove, Green Woodpecker, 2 Little Owl.
(and 1 Rabbit).
Another poor forecast for tomorrow with more wind and wintry showers.
A load of juice in Raggalds Flood, when we stopped on the way past, failed to produce much.
Looks like a double helping of 'Raggalds Flood' there John.
ReplyDeleteSome good Wader potential there Dave, if the juice stays!
ReplyDeleteIt's done pretty well in the distant past.. A Redshank starter would be good!
