We took Abi for a few days to Filey Brigg Caravan Park this week.
The weather forecast was poor but we were really lucky with only a little bit of rain falling early evening or very early morning.
Not really a birding holiday but I did get out, one of the days, along the Brigg for a long outing and I had quite a good nosy about Bridlington, while the ladies went swimming at the indoor swimming pool there.

Very, very windy today especially on the cliff top near the Brigg caravan site.
A short afternoon stroll along the tops was interesting enough though.
Birds:-
Kittiwake , Fulmar, Puffin, Razorbill, Guillemot, Great Black-backed Gull.
Gannet.
Tree Sparrow.

A better day than forecast with some light rain early on and then a dry afternoon
with light showers late evening.
An enjoyable walk along to the Brigg and I also enjoyed a good chat with
another birder, Chris from Herefordshire.
Some decent birds as well.
A Great Northern Diver was seen as I was walking with the ladies earlier,
along the beach into town.
The GND was distant and difficult to photo as it disappeared in and out of the
waves and also was diving all the time.
I did a bit better, later in the day, with another (or the same) G.N.D. seen
from the Brigg.
Also on the Brigg was a Pale Bellied Brent Goose.
A small flock of Sanderling, Great Black Backed Gull and Oystercatcher.
Overhead, a solitary Sandwich Tern and 3 Eider Ducks completed
a good couple of hours.

A train trip to Bridlington today.
And with the ladies in the indoor swimming pool, I could relax and enjoy a
leisurely look around the harbour and beach area.
This made an enjoyable change from the amazing amount of energy
Abi exudes ,keeping us on the move non-stop!
Just a few birds seen here today:-
50+ Redshank, Great Black-backed Gull, Kittiwake.
Many Turnstone.
I met a birder from Barnsley (who told me he was the person who
started the Old Moor site at Barnsley).
I would have liked a longer chat with him, but, like me, he was governed
by the grandkids! and he had to dash off.
The reported 7 or so Purple Sandpiper had left, according to the Barnsley birder.
However, there was a potential Purple Sandpiper candidate.
It was a lone bird, perched in a gap in the sea wall, inaccessible and only visible
from a distance while craning over the sea wall.
It had an unusual colour plumage but the head shape looked right and the 'dumpy'
stance.
I have had some good sightings of Purple Sandpiper previously so I am familiar
with the species.
Filey Thursday 14h April 2022.
Home today and on the journey I did managed 1 Red Kite and a couple of Buzzard.
With many thanks .... compiled with a little bit of help from a grapevine birder who shall
remain nameless although his name appears to be an anagram of:-
Redcar Town FC - Kor!!
A few photies....
