Ogden Redstart Twitch

A long stint this afternoon at Ogden, 1pm till after 4pm but very worthwhile.

First up was a walk up the east side track hoping to see NK & DJS's Redstart.

After seeing 5 or 6 Robins up the track another "Robin" popped up onto a stump.

This Robin, however, was a Redstart (no song heard).

So a great start.

I tried for DJS's Pied Flycatcher at both small bridges / ponds along the reservoir circuit track but no joy, although I was flummoxed by a call from the western side bridge bushes.

Other birds were pretty scarce and the contrast between the calm east side and high up on the very ,very windy west side, by the golf course fence ,was amazing.

A confusing bird song / call half Chaffinch and half NOT!

Birds:-

Redstart, Blackcap, 4 Swift, Heron.

10 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 1 Herring Gull, 1 Black Headed Gull.

2 Grey Wagtail,  2 Raven,

Jay (cleaning a slug on a tree branch by the looks of it).

Goldcrest, Great Crested Grebe.

Common Sandpiper.
