Swalesmoor to Bradshaw

A cool morning with some sun, after lunch the sky turned black and it looked like there was going to be some heavy showers.

I donned the waterproof gear and Sue dropped me at Swalesmoor.

The rain was light and sporadic and soon packed in and the sun came out making for a very hot outing with all my gear on!

I walked over Pule Hill (Ringby Top) and down to the A629 road and than down Howcans bridleway for 500 yds or so before returning to drop down Crooked Lane.

Last time I was here most of the masses of rubbish had been removed by Calderdale MBC, and various warning signs are now in place about fly tipping, but it was sad to see that the phantom builder has returned and dropped some more old bricks and litter again.

On arrival at Windy Bank Lane I took a left and followed my usual route past Holsdworth to home.

Trying to eek out something special from local outings is proving difficult but I did eyeball a Green Woodpecker that flew east over Howcans Bridleway towards Ringby Top.

5 Swift overhead and 6 or so Lesser Black-backed Gulls were on the recycling building roof.

A Large very dark coloured Gull, high over Howcans is probably a Lesser,

31 species noted today but no Raptors seen.
