Ringby Lane / Top Swalesmoor

A short drive out to Swalesmoor after lunch this afternoon and a walk up Ringby Lane past the recycling plant and back.

Warm and sometimes sunny but very, very windy on the tops (again).

There were a few birds about to keep the interest ticking along nicely but just 2 Butterflies.

A Wall butterfly was one of them , thanks to a heads up from DJS earlier (I don't do Butterflies - Yet).

Unfortunately it no sooner appeared than it disappeared over a wall.

Birds:-

 Skylark, Meadow Pipit.

Whitethroat singing, the bird  trying to match my whistling rendition of "Spark by Amy Macdonald" - the bird had NO chance!

Linnet.

c10 Lesser Black-backed Gulls here, with c20 following a tractor in a mown field further to the south of me,

An enjoyable outing but the constant wind is a real pain - now where are the Rennies.

Earlier Hawkeye Sue spotted 2 Buzzards high near City Road Brackenbed ,while we returning from the Tip ,(Sue's was driving, I was looking for birds from the passenger seat Doh!).

  1. Thought you might get a wall up there - nice one John the other one is a Small Tortoiseshell. Those Whitethroats and Skylarks seem to be doing pretty well up there.
