Denholme Velvets Bridleway to the Abattoir nr. Ogden Back Lane

A late evening outing to Denholme, quite a breezy do, but lovely evening sunshine and a few birds knocking about.

[Yesterday evening was completely different, grim, misty drizzle and windy as I had a stroll along Hag Lane, Swalesmoor. A waste of time really. A Peregrine was seen earlier in the day].

This evening quite a few birds were singing / calling and a few were actually seen!

Reed Buntings called from 3 different locations but apart from a fleeting glance of one bird, the others were well hidden in the reeds.

A Red Legged Partridge was accompanying one chick along a distant path.

A few calling Red Legged Partridge were heard elsewhere as well.

5 or so Curlew remained distant calling and flying over the moors.
Lesser Black-backed Gulls were passing by.

A Pheasant flushed from the path, followed by 3 large young birds.

Swallows in and out of the stables.

A few Meadow Pipit was about all.
