A smashing evening for a stroll along the fields to Ned Hill bottom, the usual grunt up Ned Hill. I bypassed Ned Hill Track - too windy. A walk up Soil Hill main track then a right above the quarry to contour round to near Percy Road.
The field adjacent Percy Road had some large cows 'braying loudly' and I decided to retrace my steps back over soil hill.
Home via Taylor Lane and Bradshaw Lane.
This morning I had an hour or so up the local fields on a breezy, very warm outing.
Loads of Brown Butterflies.
Birds:-
Morning Stroll:
3 Red Legged Partridge, c15 Swallow, Kestrel.
Little Owl, Whitethroat singing loudly throughout.
Meadow Pipit.
A Buzzard was seen, high, over Oats Royd from the garden later.
Evening Circular:
Goldfinch family.
Pheasant with 4 large offspring.
Headless Pheasant chick along Soil Hill main track - Sparrowhawk prey?
4 Kestrel, 18 Mistle Thrush > S, landed on a pylon.
Skylark, Meadow Pipit.
Whitethroat, Stock Dove.
Butterfly looks like a Ringlet, John. Plenty about at the moment as well as Meadow Browns. Not always easy to distinguish the two species i d in flight. Keep working on it !!!!
