Ogden Again

A late afternoon visit to Ogden Water today, a few showers for company.

Good to chat with I.B. working hard on the visitors centre building.

A very prolonged gawp along the waters edge on a complete circuit of the water, looking for the 'resident' Common Sandpiper, failed to locate it, again!

(Manged to locate the female Tufted Duck though).

The sad thing was that I had an actual appointment early this morning at Specsavers.

The inspection took over 1 hour, longest eye test I can remember!

Afterwards the optician said that my eyes were crap following last year's test and they are even more crap this year, but my current prescription is Ok.

Well, he did not use the word crap to be honest but...

Birds:-

Same as my last visit more or less.

Great Spotted Woodpecker.

At least 9 Cormorant.

c80 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, c70 Black Headed Gulls, at least 2 Herring Gulls.

F. Tufted Duck.

2 Grey Wagtail, 2 Pied Wagtail.

Bullfinch, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff.

Merlin Birding App.

As I loitered near the north end intake pond my Merlin app reported a possible Spotted Flycatcher (red dot showing). Then  it 'confirmed' a Treecreeper.

All that I saw and heard were a family of Wren in the vicinity - The parent Wren complaining loudly, I must have been too close for comfort for the Wren.

No other calls at all.

(Merlin is normally pretty accurate I would say).
