Whiteholme Reservoir

Quite a drive from Bradshaw to Whiteholme reservoir this afternoon. A hot day but some pleasant breeze periodically made for an enjoyable walk.

I would have probably paid the £2.75 for an ice cream today but the van was absent... Boo hoo.

I parked opposite Blackmoor Reservoir  and walked down the road to take a left along the stony track to the reservoir.

A few dog walkers and a family with young kids "on the beach" splashing in the water were having some rare fun in the heat.

Unusual to see dog walkers on both sides of the water, but the reservoir is very low with an abundance of shoreline.

Quite a hike in the heat and not much reward for the effort.

Birds:-

15 Greylag Geese, 7 Canada Geese.

Many Meadow Pipit, which was good to see.

Juv. Pied Wagtail and one Skylark seen.

(Pr.Mistle Thrush seen from the garden a.m.

Buzzard hovering motionless over Roper Lane p.m.).

After yesterday's comment about Great Black-backed Gull attacking a Pigeon. I had a surf about and came across a video showing a Great Black-backed Gull swallowing a Rabbit...whole.. In Wales.

Gruesome in the extreme.. Too gruesome to put on here!!
