Hike Day - Cross Roads - Haworth - Oxenhope - Ponden - TMR - Ogden - Bradshaw

We normally have Abi / Emma on Saturday, but with the school holidays changing the routine we had a free day today.

We caught the 503 bus from Bradshaw towards Keighley and 'alighted' at Cross Roads above Keighley. Who uses the word 'alighted' except transport providers?

We walked down the road into Haworth and took a right at the railway station to cross the bridge there.

We then chanced upon a cracking little café (Bronte Bridge Café) , offering amazing value, and we just had to stop for a toasted teacake even though we'd only just set off.

A pleasant stroll along the stream now led us into Oxenhope.

I used to see Dippers and Wagtails along here, today just a Heron.

I'm not sure if the updated water treatment works has an impact on the streams water quality and therefore the birds?

We called at Oxenhope Co-op for an ice lolly and a drink before a bit of a climb to Leeming reservoir.

After Leeming comes the real grunt, with a long steady climb up the moor to crest the brow to the right of Oxenhope Reservoir (TMR).

A very stony bridleway now runs unerringly down to Ogden, Back Lane where we stopped for a while in the Causeway Inn to quench our thirst.

Home was through Crabtree Hall Farm and along the Bradshaw Fields.

A tough, very warm to start, outing, improved as we went up the moor from Leeming where a refreshing breeze came along.

No bins or camera today and no birding - just a few Meadow Pipits seen on the moors.

A Few photos from yesterday:-

And a few from today taken on my telling bone:
