Pugney's Park - Wakefield

We had to make a visit to Castleford this afternoon and we took the opportunity for a short detour to have a walk around Pugney's Park Wakefield.

A pleasant mild outing, but pretty busy here, with it being a Sunday.

Birds:-

Just out of the car and a Raptor zoomed past - a Sparrowhawk (I think).

Pied Wagtail, Grey Wagtail, Lapwing.

Canada Geese and Mallard.

Black Headed Gull, Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull.

Pochard, Shoveler, 8 Great Crested Grebe, Little Grebe.

Goldeneye, Mute Swan, Mallard.

Cormorant, Tufted Duck, Coot, Moorhen.

Gadwall, Heron.

I don't remember seeing a Teal or a Widgeon.

However Teal would probably be here - not sure about Widgeon.

Plenty of Shovelers that can look a bit like Widgeon (To me anyway!).

Some photies:-

2 Photos below - Pochard?

Shoveler in flight.
Not sure about the bottom left Duck sp.
but it's probably a Shoveler/

A good selection of Birds here.

Sparrowhawk above.

Not sure about this Gull.
Probably a 3cy Lesser Black-backed.

Gadwall.
