Bradshaw to Haworth Hike

A better day weather wise and Sue wanted to take a long walk to Haworth, about 8 miles in all.

No bins or camera today, just the mobile phone camera.

Our usual route today - Bradshaw Fields, Crabtree Hall Farm, Syke Lane, Ogden Lane, Back Lane.

Then the long climb from Back Lane over the moors to Oxenhope reservoir (TMR).

(Misty here with the top of the turbines in the mist).

Then a nice downhill treat through reedy fields to pass a very full looking Leeming Reservoir.

Along Back Leeming before an iced lollipop at Oxenhope Co-op - (we know how to live).

Along the stream, past the water treatment works and a short climb before going through the new large smart housing estate.

Up the steep, steep hill past Haworth Park and up the equally steep Haworth Main Street.

A Chicken curry pasty and a bun at the Villette Café was well deserved and a welcome rest.

Then on again past Haworth Railway station and up the hill to Cross Hills where we just made it to catch the very convenient 502 Keighley to Halifax bus to Bradshaw Church and a walk home.

Birds:-

Bradshaw Fields  - Kestrel.

Ogden Back Lane - Kestrel.

Just a few Meadow Pipits seen on the long climb up to Oxenhope Reservoir with just 5 calling Red Grouse heard (non seen).

Our arrival at Oxenhope Reservoir coincided with a large skein c180  of Pink Foot Geese, calling as they flew north (ish).

C80 Canada Geese were in fields near Leeming Reservoir.

Nuthatch, Pied Wagtail and lots of Long Tailed Tit near Oxenhope Station.

A Song Thrush was a nice surprise, perched on the water treatment railings.

A Dipper flew over the stream further along and another skein of Pink Footed Geese could be heard calling > NW (ish).

The Pinkies remained unseen, hidden by hills and trees.

An enjoyable hike.

A Raven and a Sparrowhawk were seen over the house this morning.

High up along back lane bridleway.

The recent downpours turning the path into a stream.

At the top.
Oxenhope Reservoir - looking full now.

Leeming Reservoir from Oxenhope Reservoir area.

Sight of the day - c180 Pink Footed Geese.

Leeming - on our way down.
