Pinkies in the fog

Another grotty day in Bradshaw with thick fog from dawn 'till dusk.

Difficult to tell Dawn from dusk really. today!

We took Emma to Wetherspoons for some breakfast this morning and afterwards I had a short squint in the trees and bushes as White Windows.

Although it was quite misty here, visibility was 100% better than at Bradshaw.

While we were getting Emma into the car I heard Pink Footed Geese calling quite loudly nearby. Unfortunately they were hidden in the mist and their calls diminished as they flew west(ish).

Probably a 'small' skein going by the calls - but who knows!

Birds:-

Pink Footed Geese.

2 Goldcrest.

Blackbird, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Chaffinch, Long Tailed Tit, Dunnock, Bullfinch.

The usual Starlings feeding in the Pavement Lane fields as we neared home.

I don't know how Kestrel managed to find food in this foggy stuff, presumably they have to resort to grubs of some kind?

All the photos have been tarted up a bit  (to get rid of the "mist") using Picassa (and they are still pretty rubbish!).

Heavy Rain all day tomorrow - yippee-ki-yo   ...   yippee-ki-yay.

  1. Poor day today John - we might get something when this fog lifts (hopefully). Nice one with the 'pinks'. Bright sunshine at my sisters in Manchester today.

  2. West seemed best today Dave. Cannot see beyond the garden gate for the last 2 days. The heavy rain tomorrow should shift the fog?
