Garden / Raggalds / Coley and Priestley Green Area

Abi with us as usual today and the ladies decided to do some baking leaving me at a 'loose end' (not).

Garden:

Another beautiful sunny, frosty morning in Bradshaw but it looked very misty / foggy lower down the valley towards Halifax.

I had a hour or two this morning sky gazing from the garden , the grapevine buzzing with Pink Footed Geese sightings but try as I might I could not pick any out in the distant gloom.

Eventually I manged to eyeball a small skein of Pinkies over Halifax - quite a distant from my Bradshaw Garden. It was pleasing to get a confirmation message from MM as they passed over Wainstalls.

I reckon there were 68 having attempted to count them out of a manipulated poor photo.

Other than the Pinkies a Green Woodpecker called and as I picked it out from the trees opposite me, it flew off west. Also airborne were 2 Stock Doves.

Raggalds:

I had a walk up to the Raggalds just before lunch but with the fields frozen soild it turned out to be a poor do with just 2 Mistle Thrush seen.

Coley and Priestley Green Area:

After lunch I parked the car near Coley Church and had a walk down a slippery bridleway to go beyond Priestley Green.

Lots happening here today, including me going base over apex on the ice just as an elderly lady with a dog passed by.

"I find it less slippy if you keep to the middle" she advised.

(I find that I'm not looking where I'm going, hunting for a Little Owl).

Anyway only thing damaged was my bum and a bit of pride.

Beyond Priestley Green it became very cold, with the mist only just having lifted.

Plenty of Birds about.

Birds:-

3 Mistle Thrush, 3 Raven.

4 Nuthatch, 1 Fieldfare.

1 Little Owl. 1 Stock Dove.

Lots of Blackbirds and Wrens about.

A small group of Common and Herring Gulls, were too distant to check out properly.

An enjoyable days birding today.
