Sowerby Bridge to Hebden Bridge

Another cracking day for a walk, blue skies, little wind but very cold early doors( -4 on the car this a.m.).

Sue was visiting a friend at Ludd. Foot and she dropped me at Sowerby Bridge.

I enjoyed a birding walk along the canal to Hebden Bridge, although the crisp weather did not lend itself to loitering!

Sue picked me up at Hebden Bridge and after a café stop for lunch we went home via the Hebden Bridge - Oxenhope Road.

Some fantastic winter scenery on offer over the moors today.

Some Birds:-

Nothing mega today, although approaching Hebden at the end of the walk a large "Sparrowhawk"  type Raptor was very high > SSW .

It was out of sight nearly immediately I first saw it!!!

Canada Geese, one very dark bird.

4 Heron at different points along the way.

Jay.

Redwing.

Chaffinch.

Drake Goosander.

Red Grouse were distant, seen feeding in the snow from the Hebden Bridge - Oxenhope Road - Smashing!!

A Kestrel or Merlin flew past the car up here also - the photo taken from the car  is rubbish alas!

Not many birds on offer today but a fantastic day to be out and about, provided you wrap up.

(Maybe I should wrap up more often!!).
