Elland to Brookfoot Avocet Works

Some snow in Bradshaw mid-morning covered the road but soon vamoosed when the sun arrived.

13:00 - 16:00

Great weather for walking today, crisp winter sunshine and little wind.

This afternoon I enjoyed a walk from Elland bridge along the canal and river to Brookfoot Avocet works.

The river is fast flowing, still, and not much seen in it.

It was good to bump into Clifford and Emily who had been taking photos of a Kingfisher.

I did not locate their Kingfisher but I did see one near dark as it flew over the fishing ponds into trees.

Quite a long outing today and it was pretty cold as I left just after 4pm, -2 on the car as we arrived in Bradshaw.

Some interesting Gulls on the ski-lake were probably made interesting by the bright sunlight.

It's difficult to get decent photos through the railing looking onto the ski lake I'm afraid.

(I gave the feeding area a miss today).

Birds:-

5 Mute Swan, 6 Goosander (2 Drakes).

10 Tufted Duck, 2 Coot, 2 Heron.

5 Moorhen, Grey Wagtail.

Kingfisher.

Usual smaller birds seen but just one Chaffinch - Chaffinch in short supply?

A Heron was seen flying over Shelf roundabout on my way home.
